Elementary Education with Math Emphasis Grade 5 - Algebra I, B.A.
The Bachelor of Arts Elementary Education with Math Emphasis Grade 5-Algebra I degree prepares students for teaching in the elementary classroom in grades kindergarten to sixth grade and Middle School Math Grades 7-Algebra 1. Completion of the program of study provides eligibility to apply for certification in the state of West Virginia. Please note: COLL 101 ORIENTATION TO COLLEGE is a university requirement that does not count toward graduation requirements.

A grade of "C" or better required in each course in the program of study.
Applications to Program and Residency due March 1 and October 1
Admission to the Program
- Completion of 45 hours
- Minimum GPA 3.0 (Conditional with special requirements)
- No grade below a C
- Passage of CORE Praxis I Test
- 50 hours of Service Learning
- Completions of ENGL 101 ~COMPOSITION 1, ENGL 102 ~COMPOSITION 2, COMM 111 ~FUND OF PUBLIC SPEAKING, PSYC 241 ~INTRO TO HUMAN DEVELOPMENT, and MATH 121 ~INTRO TO MATHEMATICS or higher
- Completion of EDUC 100 INTRO TO TEACHER EDUCATION, EDUC 200 INTRO TO EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN, EDUC 201 UNDERSTANDING READERS & TEXTS, and EDUC 300 THEORIES OF LEARNING.
