COSM 101 INTRODUCTION TO COSMETOLOGY
2 Credit Hours
This course introduces cosmetology, nail technology and skin care. It includes professional image, sanitation and safety in the salon. (2 lecture)
COSM 103 SCIENCE OF COSMETOLOGY
5 Credit Hours
This course presents cells, tissue and organs as they relate to the histology and physiology of the skin, hair and nails and how they work together to form body systems. Major body systems will be studied, along with their impact on the skin, hair and nails. Students will study skin, hair and nail diseases and disorders to differentiate between treatable disorders and those that require referral to a physician.

COSM 105 HAIRCUTTING THEORY & TECHNIQUE
4 Credit Hours
Provides students with the opportunity to develop hair service skills with a focus on shampooing, conditioning, hair cutting. (1 lecture, 6 lab)
COSM 107 HAIRSTYLING, WIGS & EXTENSIONS
3 Credit Hours
Provides students with the opportunity to continue to develop hair service skills with a focus on shampooing, conditioning, styling, long hair, wigs and extensions. (1 lecture, 4 lab)
COSM 109 INTRODUCTION TO NAIL CARE
5 Credit Hours
Introduces nail care including manicuring, pedicuring, and artificial nails. (1 lecture, 8 lab)
COSM 110 CHEMICAL CONTROL
3 Credit Hours
Introduces cosmetology chemicals and their applications. This includes curl reformation, permanent waving, soft curl perming, chemical relaxing, hair lightening and color enhancement. (1 lecture, 4 lab)
COSM 112 INTRODUCTION TO ESTHETICS
5 Credit Hours
This course introduces facial service procedures, changes produced by cosmetic products, color theory, make up application techniques and temporary hair removal. (1 lecture, 8 lab)
COSM 114 FACIAL DEVICES & TECHNOLOGY
3 Credit Hours
This course introduces facial service procedures using facial machines, including changes produced by cosmetic products. (1 lecture, 4 lab)
COSM 201 COSMETOLOGY CLINICAL I
3 Credit Hours
This course is designed to provide clinical practice and performance of previously learned hair, skin and nails. This course provides the necessary hours to complete hair, skin and nail care quotas as mandated by the State of West Virginia and to develop proficiency in hair, skin and nail services.
COSM 202 COSMETOLOGY CLINICAL II
5 Credit Hours
This course is designed to provide clinical practice and performance of previously learned hair, skin and nail skills. This course provides the necessary hours to complete hair, skin and nail care quotas as mandated by the State of West Virginia and to develop proficiency in hair, skin and nail services.
COSM 203 COSMETOLOGY CLINICAL III
5 Credit Hours
This course is designed to provide clinical practice and performance of previously learned hair, skin and nail skills. This course provides the necessary hours to complete hair, skin and nail quotas as mandated by the State of West Virginia and to develop proficiency in hair, skin and nail services.
COSM 204 COSMETOLOGY CLINICAL IV

COSM 205 COSMETOLOGY CLINICAL V

COSM 210 SALON MANAGEMENT
2 Credit Hours
In this course students are trained to deal with common management problems and issues. They are also taught good business techniques and practices as well as potential salon problems and their correction and prevention. (2 lecture)
COSM 260 COSMETOLOGY CAPSTONE
2 Credit Hours
This course is designed to review information related to and required for successful completion of the State of West Virginia Licensure Examination for Cosmetology. (4 lab)
